Mission

The Journal of Sport for Development (JSFD) is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal.

The Journal’s mission is to advance, examine, and disseminate evidence and best practices for programs and interventions that use sport to promote development, health and/or peace.

JSFD seeks original submissions from researchers, implementers, policy makers, and other stakeholders in sport for development. This includes experts and young researchers in public health, education, gender equity, disability, youth development, economics, and conflict. All manuscripts must be submitted online and undergo a rigorous peer review process. All JSFD articles and volumes will be freely available online to the public.

JSFD for Researchers: A space to advance knowledge
JSFD invites submissions from across disciplines, thematic areas, and geographies. All manuscripts will undergo a rigorous peer review process. JSFD seeks to publish quantitative and qualitative studies, including outcome evaluations, process evaluations, reviews, and intervention designs.

JSFD for Implementers: A space to share best practices
In each issue, JSFD commits to publishing case studies from the field. This is a great opportunity for program implementers and evaluators to share lessons learnt and read about other organizations’ best practices. These case studies will be peer-reviewed like research studies.

JSFD for Funders: A space to inform and learn
We hope funders will encourage grantees to publish research and best practices in JSFD. We also hope SFD funders will actively engage with JSFD to inform grant-making decisions, comment on studies, advertise calls for proposals and directly support the growth of the journal. Please email the Editor if you are interested in sponsoring JSFD.
